The shop

One person. Not an agency.

I’m Matt Jaeb. I find out why things get stuck, and get them moving. Lately, that mostly means websites.

I’ve spent nine years inside fintech, insurance and software companies as a product owner, agile coach and product manager. That’s a long way of saying my job has been finding out why work gets stuck, and getting it moving again.

Along the way I’ve run a small online business of my own, so I know what it’s like when the website, the inventory and the invoices all want attention on the same afternoon.

I started Good Sign Works because most small businesses don’t need an agency. They need one capable person who’ll build them a website that does its job, explain it in plain words, and hand it back working. And when the trouble turns out to be behind the website, I can help there too.

House rules.

How the shop works, written down so you can hold me to it.

  1. Plain words.

If I can’t explain it without jargon, I don’t understand it well enough to charge you for it.

  2. Evidence before fixes.

I find out what’s actually wrong before changing anything. A good theory isn’t proof.

  3. Fix the cause.

Patching symptoms is how you end up paying for the same repair three times.

  4. Simple beats clever.

The best fix is the smallest one that works and that you can keep running.

  5. One price, in writing.

You’ll know the cost before I start, and it won’t move without your say-so.

  6. I’ll say when you don’t need me.

Sometimes the answer is a setting, a template, or a phone call.

Let’s talk about your site.

Tell me what you need. I’ll read it myself and reply.
